博物館から世界へ

Reaching out through a Museum

倉敷考古館の開館は1950年11月。すでに還暦を過ぎました。江戸時代の倉を改装した小さな考古博物館ですが、遺跡の多い吉備地方の調査や研究をつづけ、成果を展示発表してきました。

Opened in November 1950, in the restored earth-walled building of an approximately 200-year-old rice granary. The display area was doubled in 1957 with the addition of an expansion, also in keeping with the rice granary design.

 

古代吉備


Ancient Kibi

古代に吉備と呼ばれた地域は、岡山県全体と広島県東部にまたがる広い範囲にわたっています。古代の吉備には、貝塚や弥生墳丘墓、巨大古墳などをはじめ、日本の古代史を語る上で欠かせない数多くの貴重な遺跡が存在しています。

倉敷考古館では、70年近くにわたり古代吉備を代表する数々の遺跡の発掘調査を手がけ、調査研究を進めるとともに、数々の貴重な資料を展示してまいりました。倉敷考古館では、これからもすばらしい古代吉備の歴史を皆様にお伝えしてまいります。

In ancient times, a region called Kibi was spread across Okayama and the East of Hiroshima Prefecture. Ancient Kibi started the distribution of shell mounds, Yayoi mounds tomb, and gigantic coffins. It holds a considerate amount of precious artifacts that cannot be excluded in Japanese history.

Kurashiki Archaeological Museum, spending almost 70 years excavating and examining many artifacts from Ancient Kibi, to bring you many valuable materials on display. Along with our research, we will continue to provide everyone with the great history of Ancient Kibi.
